Course Description

In this course, students embark on a comprehensive journey through the fundamentals of computer science and digital literacy. They will explore computing systems, master input and output devices, and engage in creative block-based programming using ScratchJr to build interactive animations and games. The curriculum covers data organization using Microsoft Excel, network basics, and the foundational concepts of Artificial Intelligence. Additionally, students will develop crucial digital citizenship skills, focusing on online safety, information accuracy, and balancing screen time.

Course Learning Goals
  • Identify different types of computers, input/output devices, and practice safe computing habits. C

  • Create animated stories and games using sequencing, events, and loops in ScratchJr.

  • Collect, organize, and visualize data using pictographs and Microsoft Excel.

  • Understand the fundamentals of computer networks and how the Internet connects devices.

  • Recognize the basic concepts of Artificial Intelligence and its presence in everyday devices.

  • Apply digital citizenship principles, including online safety, privacy protection, and verifying information accuracy.
